How to Specify Parallel VFD Cables for High-Power Applications

The pros at Belden recently posted a great article in April of 2015 that teaches you how to specific parallel variable frequency drive (VFD) cables for high-power motor and drive applications. As you know, VFD cable was developed specifically to improve the longevity of drives by keeping signal noise out of the cable.

Wherever drives are running, chances are very good that there is a lot of electrical noise. VFD cables can help greatly reduce the potential harm caused by this noise, which in turn helps protect production efficiency by limiting downtime and ensuring quality control.

Along with this great how-to article, Belden is also hosted a webinar called “VFD Cable: The Benefits of Parallel Solutions for High-Power Applications.” During the webinar, we learned how to select parallel conductor solutions for high-power drive systems, demonstrate to your customer the copper savings potential, as well as understand the applicable NEC code sections for VFD cable sizing.

I highly recommend reading the article and considering signing up to watch the recorded version of the webinar. You’ll find the sign for the webinar at the end of the article, or you can go directly to the registration page here.
