Do what you’re passionate about
Reannon Hoverson became a certified personal trainer because she loves helping people reach their goals. She’s building her career at Border States for a similar reason.
Hoverson legitimately loves helping customers succeed.
“That’s what Border States is – the customer comes first,” says Hoverson, a Distribution Leadership Program Trainee based in Grand Forks, ND.
Originally from McVille, ND, Hoverson studied business administration at North Dakota State University. This time of year, when she’s not putting her business prowess to practice, she’s running her fourth- and sixth-grade kiddos to regional basketball tournaments.
Open the door to leadership opportunities
Not only does Border States want our customers to thrive, we also care that our employee-owners succeed.
Hoverson’s exceptional customer-service mindset helped her quickly advance through warehouse, Will Call and City Desk positions at the Grand Forks branch. For the last seven months, she’s pursued advancement opportunities through the company’s unique Distribution Leadership Program.
“I feel very fortunate to have been accepted into this program. It exposes you to parts of the Border States business and electrical distribution industry that you otherwise might not see,” Hoverson says. “By getting involved in areas like acquisitions, branch moves, budgeting and customer events, Border States has set me up to feel confident for a future leadership role.”
Gain valuable experience, feel valued
When Hoverson was first applying for a position at Border States, she didn’t have an electrical or distribution background. She was initially drawn to Border States’ incredible employee stock-ownership program (ESOP), as well as the company’s countless training and on-the-job learning opportunities.
“Everyone around me has helped me become who I am, and I’ve developed awesome friendships,” Hoverson says. “Border States employs smart people who provide great resources.”
Additionally, Hoverson feels her expertise and opinions are valued at Border States. The company breeds a culture of positivity and mutual respect.
“Border States really cares about its people, even at the executive level,” she says. “They really make you feel like you matter. My branch manager has been a great mentor.”
Step up to the challenge, own your future
Hoverson describes Border States as a growing company that challenges its employee-owners to grow professionally – and have fun.
“Anyone who believes in themselves and commits to Border States will feel an unimaginable gratitude,” Hoverson says. “I’m so grateful this company invested in me. If you want success, it’s here for the taking.”
