Habitat for humanity fargoEmployee-owners recently braved the cold so a Habitat for Humanity Fargo family won’t have to.

Temperatures in the low twenties with a strong wind chill didn’t stop Border States volunteers from teaming up the week of Oct. 23 in Fargo, ND, to help put up drywall for Lake Aggasiz Habitat for Humanity‘s 2017 Hero Build. The project is taking place at the property where, in February 2016, Fargo Police Officer Jason Moszer lost his life in the line of duty.

“There are many volunteers in a small area, but everybody’s working together,” says Kyle Schmidt, Border States Safety Market Specialist. “As a company, we all care about the communities we’re in. For me to be able to come out and do this, it’s a lot of fun and it’s going toward a great cause.”

Other employee-owners echoed Schmidt, adding it was fun putting up drywall to provide warmth and protection for Danielle John, a sex-trafficking survivor and human-trafficking specialist at Youthworks, and her four children. Hear from John in the video below.

“It’s amazing working for a company that wants to give back so much to the community,” says Nicole Hagman, Border States pricing specialist. “To allow us to come out and donate our time doing something like this, I can’t even explain how good it feels to go home at night knowing that you helped give back to the community.”

Learn more about the 2017 Hero Build groundbreaking and the heartwarming story of new life that has emerged from a terrible loss.
