Our commitment to an inclusive culture 

At Border States, our employee-owners come from diverse backgrounds and experiences that shape our unique company. Together, we’re not just addressing diversity; we’re cultivating a culture that celebrates individuality, ensures every voice is heard and provides equal opportunities for all. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives extend beyond our employee-owners to our customers and the communities we serve.

Empowering change through our purpose

We are committed to improving our culture; building an even more diverse, inclusive and equitable organization; and eliminating hurtful discrimination, hatred and racism. Border States established a Unity Council in 2020 to help celebrate diversity and promote equity and understanding, so all employee-owners can build a stronger foundation for our company and beyond. The council works to develop strategies and objectives, implement programs, create awareness and educate employee-owners as we work to address the important initiative of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion service efforts.

Unity Council

As a cornerstone of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts, the Unity Council is driving a sustainable and inclusive culture by celebrating diversity, promoting equity and enhancing belonging.

Employee-owner Resource Groups (ERGs)

Our ERGs are dynamic spaces fostering support, empowerment and a sense of belonging. They offer opportunities for education, leadership development and community engagement across our organization.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion Program

To ensure accessibility and understanding, we are developing a program in which employee-owners will be stepping into roles as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champions.

Training initiatives

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training explores diverse angles, ensuring our approach goes beyond the norm. Continuous policy reviews ensure equitable treatment, reinforcing positive changes through ongoing socialization.  

Diversity in hiring

We are exploring professional and leadership development opportunities, especially for minority employee-owners.
