Ownership Builds Community

Our employee-owners show up each day with a personal stake in the success of our company. This unique connection to our work also impacts the communities where we live and serve our customers.

A Stake in More than Business
Ownership extends into every facet of our business and how we view our role in our communities — with deep responsibility for building strong and healthy families, neighborhoods, and cities. Strong businesses like Border States create ripple effects that lift up local economies and help families thrive, and we’re proud to be a part of making sure our communities are supported.

Better Than We Found It
Our promise to Do Good means that we are committed to leaving the world better than we found it. We live that principle by giving all employee-owners 16 hours of paid volunteer time each year, providing them the opportunity to serve the causes they care about in a tangible, hands-on way. We also lift up our neighbors by investing back into the community through the Border States Foundation.

Strengthening Trades
Supporting the next generation of talented tradespeople is key to ensuring our workforce remains strong across the sectors we serve. We are proud to support educational opportunities for tradespeople across our company footprint.

Here for You When Disaster Strikes
Border States has dedicated storm recovery teams who deploy before, during, and after severe weather events like blizzards and hurricanes to make sure our utility customers are empowered to get the lights back on quickly and safely.

Ownership Builds Community
All of it means that ownership doesn’t end when we leave work for the day. It shows up in the way we move through the world, dedicated to leaving it better than we found it and building a company we can all be proud of.
