Border States Electric (BSE) was presented with the Pro Patria Award from the North Dakota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) July 21. The Pro Patria Award is the highest level that may be bestowed by a state ESGR and recognizes employers that provide extraordinary support to their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
In accepting the award on behalf of the company, Jason Stein, COO, said, “We encourage everyone to find ways to give back. All those who serve in the Guard and Reserve give back in such an enormous and important way; they give back to this country and protect our freedom. It’s not only important for us to help these employee-owners serve, but it’s an honor. The credit belongs to those who serve.”
BSE was nominated for this award by First Lieutenant Maranda McDougall, a BSE employee-owner who serves in the 367th Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, St. Cloud, Minn.
BSE was a semifinalist in 2014 for the Freedom Award. In 2013, three BSE employee-owners received the Patriot Award, and BSE as a whole received the Above and Beyond Award. At that time, Tammy Miller, CEO, signed a Corporate Level Statement of Support as a confirmation of BSE’s commitment to their employee-owners who serve in the military.
