The American Lineman
National Lineman Appreciation Day

Have Power? #ThankALineman

Does your cell phone have power? Is your computer humming? Do you have lights, heat or air conditioning? Is your beer cold? Then you can #ThankALineman.

Since the invention of the telegraph, line men and women have worked tirelessly, sacrificed their lives, and had to be away from family to make sure that we have power. We want to honor their hard work and take time to appreciate what they do for our country.

The need to recognize the contributions of linemen came in the wake of recent disasters, including Superstorm Sandy. The 113th Congress passed a bill designating April 18th as national Lineman Appreciation Day. It was introduced by Senators Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO), and passed unanimously in 2013.
